About the Student Emergency Fund
The purpose of the Student Emergency Fund is to be able to help currently enrolled undergraduate Melbourne, Florida students in good standing who are on track for graduation and who have encountered a financial impediment that, after exhausting their financial resources and pursuing all available assistance from Florida Tech Financial Aid (including any loan eligibility), would be able to benefit from a one-time award that would put them back on track to be able to focus on their academics and complete their semester.
Acknowledging that almost every student has identified “needs” that surpass their means, the fund would limit consideration to unforeseeable/exigent circumstances. Through an application process, students requesting assistance would be required to provide a statement of need identifying the challenge at hand (accompanied by documentation where appropriate) and show how the funding would provide a realistic potential to make the remainder of their semester/year achievable given their remaining resources.
